trans: I received a call asking if I wanted to take over the styling of the NewJeans member's dormitory from their CEO Min Hee Jin.

The contact itself surprised me, but the part that surprised me especially was that the styling space was called the 'members' dorm. I styled the spaces of various artists, but I have never had the experience of inserting original design pieces into idol's dorms. The fact that the head of the agency is trying to decorate idol members' dormitories with design furniture was itself a fresh shock.

First meeting with Min CEO and all 5 NewJeans members. "Guys, show some of the furniture pieces you like." After CEO Min said that, the members showed pictures of furniture pieces that they had collected on their phones. It's interesting to know that they are still young, but all of the five members have a taste for furniture, and also all have different tastes. What was particularly impressive was that the photos shown were not online reference images, but the ones you took with your own phone. The busy members of NewJeans have spent several days looking at products and studying furniture with Min CEO.

Moving the members into a new dorm with their own space. Since they are busy with domestic and international activities, there could have been an option to work with space experts. CEO Min allowed the members to choose and buy furniture for their rooms even if it took time. They spent 3 hours walking around the showroom looking, touching, experiencing and talking about furniture. Seeing the members not just looking, but asking questions and taking pictures, made me think that they were in class, and not shopping.

If the members had already planned how to decorated their own rooms, it was the choice of all 5 members to decorate the furniture for the living room and dining area that they would use together. Some members preferred the wood feel with traces of time, some preferred the clean and metallic feel, some preferred the functionality of the furniture that allows them to rest comfortably, some preferred the artistic elements of the furniture, and some preferred furniture with wit and transformability. Choosing furniture for the living room and dining area reflecting these diverse tastes was a difficult task.

CEO Min said that they should accept the task easily. Instead of finding out the common ingredients of five tastes and looking for furniture that fits them well, the members should 'beautifully' mix furniture that contained their own taste. If each of them exist according to their charms, and if their charms are harmonized without each other, then the solitude can be more attractive than a state organized by one theme. Instead of mixing the taste (chemical compound), mix it harmoniously, there is beauty and order in that mixture. 'Maybe that's not how NewJeans exist?' I thought.

She was NewJeans' mom who taught members New Things. They spent an hour and a half choosing the fabrics for the sofa and dining chair. Decorating the dorm where the members stay with such dedication and such quality...... It would not be possible without a sincere young mind that tells the members to learn and grow well. While living with original pieces of furniture, members will realize the powerful impact great design can have on life and body, whether consciously or unconsciously.
