Min Heejin who received these Industry Reports internally within HYBE and requested for NewJeans to be removed from their reviews

[theqoo - hot] Min Hee-jin, who received HYBE's 'Industry Trend Review,' including NewJeans

date: 24/10/2024

The industry trend report is an internal document that collects and analyzes consumer responses and issues, apart from quantitative metrics like chart performance, and suggests areas for improvement. It is not a document that reflects or changes HYBE's stance on the artist. How this data is received or used is entirely up to the discretion of each label. Because it is such a report, it can contain a wide range of opinions, and sometimes even candid points for improvement. That is the reason for the existence of this report.

Rather, if you are only satisfied when a report full of praise comes out, one should question how such an analysis report would help the development of ADOR. Despite this stance, CEO Min requested earlier this year, "Do not review (evaluate) NewJeans' content (music, performance, music videos, etc.)." Following this request, there have been no evaluations of NewJeans' content in the report. After the request to completely remove any evaluations of NewJeans, the overall trend report does not include any evaluations or assessments of NewJeans, either positive or critical.

Additionally, from the editor-in-chief of Weverse Magazine, Kang Myung-seok, there has been a continuous inclusion of biased and one-sided content in the "Industry Trend Review" document, which is discussed in internal weekly meetings. At one point, she suggested that "quantitative indicators such as numbers or data are necessary and at least a minimal level of objectivity should be maintained."

She raised an objection to CEO Park Ji-won, but he responded, "don't read it," and CHRO Kim Joo-young, the feedback was "consider it as one person's opinion." It is unclear why content lacking objectivity and credibility, with only individual opinions, should be distributed to employees as if it represents the company's stance. The biased nature of its content even raises suspicions that it may have been circulated to create specific biases or ripple effects.

We heard that ADOR had already requested to opt out of communications. However, we recently learnt from other recipients, we can confirm that ADOR is not the only one who does not agree with the reviews.

Min Hee-jin received a report (including other idols) every week from HYBE, including NewJeans.

She asked several times not to include NewJeans in the "Industry Trend Report", but it continued to happen, so she asked again to exclude them altogether.

In addition, she conveyed her opinion that 'factual descriptions such as numbers or indicators are necessary and at least a minimum level of objectivity should be maintained'.

CEO Park Ji-won: "Don't Read it"

CHRO Kim Joo-young: even requested to refuse receipt of feedback saying, "Think of it as one person's opinion"

And the level of that document...

COMMENTS

  • How shocked must she have been to read something like this
  • She created NewJeans with love, but those people kept sending out emails labelling hate comments as company documents, so she told them to stop sending her these hate commentsㅋㅋ
  • It really felt like my brain was being thrown into the trash can.
  • 'Don't read' 'Ignore' They were consistently being rude to Min Hee-jin and NewJeans.
  • Are they really analyzing views, sales, and music rankings by just reading comments from kids typing away in their rooms on DC Gallery? They’re treating that as industry trends? It’s honestly so lowbrow.
  • Seriously, it must be horrible to see your own group going up and down in a place like that...
  • What kind of industry trend are malicious comments written by the cornered loners saying idols are ugly and that they had plastic surgery, and how does this help with HYBE's work? The executives must be really pathetic...
  • Incel-like company
  • Min Hee-jin is also a three-dimensional character, but I think she really made a difficult decision and fought in this case.
  • I totally get why Min Hee-jin had so much to say. Even if they can't do anything about it legally, there were countless frustrating situations like that happening internally. But why not bring it to light? There were so many things like that.
  • How can you not go crazy after seeing them do something like that?
  • Min is a K-pop enthusiast so she is extremely honest and stern about everything ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
  • How frustrating must it have been for the only normal person to be alone
  • How did Min Heejin stay sane?
  • ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋThis is seriously like a comedy... It must have been hard for Min to hold out since she was the only normal one at the top
  • Seriously, even if it's just one person's opinion, why are they circulating personal opinions within the company, these crazy guys?
  • She was having a really shitty fight by herself
  • Min Heejin was really normal. How hard must it have been for her to be alone there.. This is not a group of people in their right mind
  • How can an entertainment company be such a piece of trash? How can such a low-quality company be considered a major company?
  • They did that to their own company's artists too? They're seriously crazy ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
